YDAR Exec and LPA, YDA President, and CDA President call for Rep. Hodges to exit race for Congress

Updated: Feb 21, 2022

Young Democrats of Arkansas Executive Committee and Chapter Presidents Assembly Resolve that Rep. Monte Hodges Should Drop Out of AR-01 Congressional Race

At our Local Presidents’ Assembly and Executive Committee meeting, a quorum of our Chapter Presidents and Executive Committee passed a resolution stating that Rep. Monte Hodges should drop out of the race for Arkansas’ First Congressional District.

Please refer to an article here from the Democrat Gazette outlining allegations against Rep. Monte Hodges.

Knowing that Rep. Hodges’ lawyer sent a letter threatening a defamation suit to a mother trying to get justice for her son is all we need to know: the Democrats deserve a better candidate for the First District.

A boy who was 4-years old in 2003 would be around the age of many of our current members. As young people, we must value the experiences of other young people.

Every party leader that could gave support to Rep. Hodges before they became aware of these allegations. We are so incredibly disappointed to say that the Young Democrats will be unable to support Rep. Hodges through volunteer work, financially, or otherwise.

Unfortunately, at this point, the best path forward is for Rep. Hodges to not file during the filing period and to drop out of this race.

Insurrectionist Rick Crawford should face a Democratic challenger that can compete financially and formidably.
